Somerset & Dorset Heritage Railway

At Midsomer Norton you will find the restored station buildings, signal box and goods shed, along with two museums: one in the original Victorian Stable Block and another in the World War II Pill Box, which is thought to be one of the smallest museums in Britain. Trains operate over one mile of the former Somerset & Dorset main line, often hauled by a vintage steam locomotive. Visitors can enjoy refreshments in the beautifully restored 1950s buffet car, explore the museum and wartime exhibits, and browse the well-stocked station shop and second-hand bookshop. The attractive station gardens, cared for by volunteers, complete the atmosphere of a much-loved heritage line reborn on the Mendips.
