Diesel Enthusiast Days with 31163 & 37227

We are feeling mightily sore that we are unable to bring you the Diesel Gala we had so carefully planned and which will now be postponed until Fri, Sat & Sun 1-3 April 2022. Unfortunately the transport of guest locos 58023 and 31128 (together with a third 'surprise') has proved impossible to deliver via a mainline move. And all of it at this 11th-hour, for which we are truly sorry!

But we have instead put in place two days of intensive running with 31163 (97205 D5581) which has been out of action for 2-years for major traction motor repairs, together with some serious ‘Growler’ action from our resident 37227 - both locomotives will be providing the 'all-day' entertainment on Saturday 11 September and again on Sunday 12 September 2021.

As this is an 'all-day' event, you can join the train at Chinnor (for free car parking) or at Princes Risborough (for Chiltern Railways connections). Offering up to SIX round trips on your 'all-day' ticket between Chinnor - Princes Risborough and vice versa, every ticket will be valid for as many trips as you please for the whole day.

Please note there are no seat reservations on any of the above services and we aim to run with 5-coaches on each day - our aim is to provide seats for everyone!

Food and drink:
Our marquee next the platform at Chinnor station will be serving Teas, Coffees, Cakes, Crisps, Shortbread, Coke & Diet Coke, Apple & Orange Juice Cartons, Bottled Water etc. In addition we will have a selection of Sandwiches and Bacon, Sausage, Veggie Baps etc., all freshly made on request. We will also have a range of bottled beers (and a cask or two) at Chinnor! Payment by the 'new normal' of Contactless Card will be greatly appreciated by our Volunteer staff.

For those who have already purchased tickets in advance for the intended Diesel Gala on 10-12 September - we will be in touch on Monday 23 August with an update and following your wishes - either a full refund or re-issued tickets for future dates etc.
