Middleton Railway

Middleton Railway
The Middleton Railway has been carrying coal, goods, and passengers since 1758, making it the oldest working railway in the world. Today, it offers a friendly heritage experience for visitors of all ages, with trains running from Moor Road to Park Halt and back in a round trip of about 25 minutes. You can choose to get off at Park Halt to explore the nearby Middleton Park before returning on a later train. Return tickets are normally valid all day, so you can ride more than once if there is space available. The railway is run entirely by volunteers, with a welcoming atmosphere, a museum at Moor Road station, and a small shop. Easy road access and free parking make it simple to plan a visit.
