Step back into the age of steam with a special commemorative steam weekend at Shillingstone Station in North Dorset. A working steam locomotive, traditional traction engines, and plenty to see and do make this an engaging day out for all ages.

Shillingstone Station will come alive with the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of live steam to mark the 60th anniversary of the closure of the Somerset and Dorset Railway. Visitors will be able to see the recently restored Yugoslav Class 62 steam locomotive No. 30075 in operation, alongside two classic traction engines, bringing together both railway and road steam in one historic setting.

There will be much more to enjoy beyond the engines, including access to North Dorset Railway’s usual attractions, additional signal box tours, and general tours that highlight the progress being made towards becoming a working heritage railway. Refreshments will be available throughout the day from on-site facilities and a mobile café serving hot food, snacks, and drinks, making it an easy and enjoyable visit for families, curious visitors, and railway enthusiasts alike.
